3D bathymetric charts, chart models, chart art, 3D wood charts...call them what you will, these are a real conversation starter. They are a must for anyone connected to our waters. The underwater contours are shown just like a topographic model would show elevation contours.
The complex and convoluted coastlines and contours are precisely cut from thin Maple plywood with a high power laser beam. With a much lower power setting, the place names and other marine features are marked on the surface. These components are then carefully "stacked" and glued together (which takes some time) to create the depth feature. Also engraved are features such as towns, rivers, lakes and roads. A locally sourced and handcrafted solid wood frame completes the display.
The Chart is mounted behind a clear acrylic sheet which has a laser engraved compass rose. For an additional $25, this acrylic can also be engraved with images from our collection (see below).
For further customization, we can engrave with an image from you such as your home or cottage, boat, favorite anchorages, dive sites, fishing spots, etc.
